Your PIM is only as good as what's in it
Most manufacturers bought a PIM to end product data sprawl. Then came the hard part: filling thousands of attributes and keeping them aligned with engineering changes. Engineering revises a BOM. Marketing edits the spec sheet in InDesign. The two never meet.
- Attributes are incomplete or inconsistent across product families
- ERP engineering changes don't reach the PIM or published spec sheets
- Each distributor wants a different feed format, built by hand
What we build
Data completeness checks
Scans PIM records against the required attributes for each product family and lists gaps and conflicts with the ERP.
Content drafting from structured data
Drafts descriptions and spec sheet copy from PIM attributes, in your house style, for a product manager to approve.
Controlled translation
Translates with your approved glossary and flags source text that changed, so translations don't go stale.
ERP-to-PIM change alerts
Flags the PIM records and published documents affected when an item or BOM is revised in the ERP.
How it works
Step 1: Define the data model
We agree with product and marketing on required attributes, naming rules and terminology for each product family.
Step 2: Connect PIM and ERP
Read access comes first. Any write access is limited to specific fields and goes through review.
Step 3: Check, draft, review
The tool finds gaps and drafts missing content. A product manager approves changes before anything is written back.
Step 4: Publish from the source
Spec sheets, feeds and documents such as DoCs are generated from approved PIM data, so there's one place to fix a mistake.
Systems we connect
- PIM systems (Salsify-class)
- NetSuite and QuickBooks item masters
- Other manufacturing ERPs, scoped during Discovery
- SharePoint and Google Workspace asset libraries
- Website and distributor feed formats, scoped per channel
Reference: documents generated live from PIM data
Our EU Declaration of Conformity generator for an industrial manufacturer assembles each declaration from Salsify-class PIM data at the moment it's requested, so it reflects the current product record, not a stored copy. The same pattern works for spec sheets and distributor feeds.
When a product record changes in the PIM, the next document generated reflects it without anyone editing a template.
Questions product and marketing teams ask
Will the AI write directly into our PIM?
Only for the fields you choose. By default it drafts changes and a person approves them before anything is written back.
We don't have a PIM yet. Is this still useful?
Often, yes. We can work from the ERP and spreadsheets, and Discovery will tell you whether a PIM is worth buying first.
